2009 MINIMUM WAGE
MINIMUM WAGE
Monetary reward is lower than a worker can receive for their needs and those of his normal family in the material, moral and cultural. The minimum wage is essential so that they can not pay less than the agreed fixed by law.
Article 1 .- To set the minimum wage for all sectors of the economy of the country, to govern from the first of January two thousand and nine, as follows:
a) For the economic activities which take place in urban areas is five thousand five hundred Lempiras Monthly (Lps. 5500.00), equivalent to a daily wage for ordinary hours of Lempiras hundred eighty-three and thirty-three cents, and
b) For the economic activities which take place in rural areas will be Fifty-Four Thousand Five Lempiras Monthly (Lps. 4055.00), equivalent to a daily wage for ordinary hours of one hundred and thirty five Lempiras with Seventeen Centavos.
This without prejudice to the contents of the Executive Agreement No. 001-STSS-07 Dated January 31, 2007.
ARTICLE 2 .- For the purposes of the preceding article shall be construed within the urban area, the following locations:
Article 3 .- Apart from the above provisions, the industry of manufacturing maquila exports, whose minimum wage will be negotiated and determined from the first of February two thousand nine.
ARTICLE 4 .- The high productivity of industrial enterprises that develop their economic activity in rural areas, must pay the minimum wage that corresponds to the economic activities that are executed in the urban sector, after qualifying that will automatically or at the request of interested party The Secretary of Labor and Social Security.
ARTICLE 5 .- In order to institutionally strengthen the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in the performance of its functions and especially for strict compliance with the provisions of this Agreement, instructing the Secretary of Finance to allocate the amount additional twenty million Lempiras within the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for the Fiscal Year 2009.
ARTICLE 6 .- The present agreement is enforceable and not contrary, decreases, or misrepresented the provisions of the Labor Code and other laws on the special secondary matter. Its violation leads to responsibility.
ARTICLE 7 .- Post this Agreement only once in the Official Gazette and came into force from January 1 2009.
